Red

Red is the color we wear when we want to be noticed, the one that appears in the most national flags, the one that casinos and advertisers use to loosen our wallets. The science is in on that: red quickens the pulse and sticks in the memory as no other color does.

In these photographs, red is never quiet. It beats in the frame, pulling the eye, shaping the story. Whether on the blood-covered hands of a fishmonger, the scarred bed of a dump truck, or a label on a bottle of port, red is always there—bold, relentless, alive.
